Suspension and Damping Concepts
  • The conventional passive systems consist of fix adjusted and optimized suspensions and dampers.
  • With adaptive systems adaptation is performed by a manual pre-selection of an appropriate suspension and/or damping characteristic. The selection is according expected driving conditions. (criterions are e.g. driving speed, driving maneuver, road or cross country).
  • Semiactive systems consider the dynamic of the axis (sensor technology) and quickly carries out necessary adjustments of the characteristic. Nevertheless, it works with passive suspension and damping elements.
  • Active systems work with highly dynamic servo hydraulic or electro magnetic actuators.
  • The suspension and damping work is done by active energy input.
